Institute for Design of Electrical Measuring Instruments (I.D.E.M.I.) is a Govt. of India organization working under Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Our thermal calibration laboratory is equipped with state of the master standards like Fixed point cells, SPRT sensors, Sec.PRT sensors, S Type Thermocouple, Low temperature bath and dry wells, High temperature furnaces, black body source , thermometry bridge , thermometer readouts etc.

In thermal laboratory, we undertake the calibration of:

  • SPRT / PRT sensors in the temp. Range -196°C to 660 °C by fixed point method.
  • RTD(PRT) sensors in the temp. range -80°C to 660 °C by comparison method.
  • Infrared (IR) Thermometers in the temp. range 0°C to 500 °C
  • Thermocouples of various types in the temp. range Ambient to 1000 °C
  • Glass Thermometers -50°C to 250 °C
  • Digital temp. indicators / Data Logger with sensors etc.
  • Dry Block Calibrator,Furnace -80°C to 1000°C

The primary calibration standards for pressure at IDEMI are the Dead Weight Testers which use the measurements of force and area to produce a pressure to calibrate instruments with great accuracy. The force is derived from weight and the area is that of a piston and a cylinder.

Following table gives the list of Dead Weight Testers used in the laboratory along with their operational ranges and accuracies. When using the DWTs, corrections for temperature and variation due to acceleration in gravity (Nominal Pressure x Local ‘g’/ Std ‘g’) are also incorporated.

Dead Weight Tester Calibration

The Calibration of Dead Weight Tester is done by using the Cross-Float System. Two separate system covers a Pneumatic Range (0.1 to 35 bar) and Hydraulic Range (2 to 2500 bar).

Pressure Laboratory

Commissioned very low-pressure controller/Calibrator, Make: Ruska, Model: 7250LP. Range: ± 75mbar with an uncertainty ± 0.01% of reading and Model: 7250i. Range: ± 350 mbar with an uncertainty ± 0.01% of reading.

Calibration of Magnehelic Gauges, low pressure Gauges, Manometers, Indicators, calibrators& in low pressure instruments mainly used in pharmaceutical industries and also for all NABL, accredited laboratory standards.

Flow calibration Laboratory at IDEMI, Mumbai at Chunabhatti offers in-house as well as on site calibration service to the clients arising out of their specific requirements from time to time. The state-of-art flow laboratory is designed as per international requirement and the test rig is confirming to ISO 4185 which is used for Fluid Flow Measurement & Calibration of liquid flow meters of process industries, Flowmeter manufacturer, water utilities and third party inspectors while ensuring traceability of their calibration to National / International Standards. IDEMI is Govt of India Society under Administrative control of D.C.MSME, Ministry of MSME.
